In the case of the piston processing, the flowability is also primarily concerned with the flowability.

Unclean castings are grinded, piston windows are extended or newly inserted. Care must be taken that not too much material is removed, which could lead to instability.

Very good are forging pistons from Wiseco or Wössner. They are high-strength and resistant to piston cracking.

The entire cylinder / piston system has to be looked at precisely to decide where the machining makes sense. Piston windows have their own right to exist and should not be "turned off" by wild milling machines on the cylinder. The mixture flowing into the flask, which then passes through the piston windows, e.g. flows back into the channels cools the piston. Particularly useful is the flow-efficient machining of a piston of the 210 cc Malossi cylinder for the Vespa PX 200.

Special piston production

Often there are no replacement pistons for different models, or one intends to mount a foreign cylinder (e.g., KTm cylinder liner on Lambretta engine housing).

The original piston is no longer available, the piston rings are too thick, the piston is too heavy .... You just want to drive a high quality forging piston. Or you do not want to use another piston (for example with a different length and other piston pin diameter) in its crankshaft to be able to drive another piston. High-quality forging is used. The production is carried out in a German specialist company.

They prevent the rotation of the piston ring and thus a springing of the ring into the outlet channel or an overcurrent channel.

For some conversions, the implementation of these pins is absolutely essential. There are, however, piston types where we can not simply replace the pins. Therefore we should preview the piston - picture is enough.

Pistons with cracks can be repaired by laser welding !!
